Bison organs are nutritional powerhouses that deliver whole-food vitamins, minerals, amino acids and peptides just as nature intended. What most people don’t know is that bison organs are also richer in many micronutrients than beef organs, lower in histamines, and offer more favorable fatty-acid profiles.
The problem with bison organs (as well as bison meat) is that it’s more challenging to source, and it’s also more expensive.
Despite these disadvantages, freeze-dried bison organ supplements have gained popularity over the last few years among health-conscious consumers who appreciate their health benefits and would like to see the bison population return to its historic levels. (Consuming bison meat/organs helps with this by encouraging ranchers to raise more bison.)
I’ve written about the differences between bison and beef, and I encourage you to check out that article for a deep dive into the individual pros and cons of the meat from each of the two animals – including a detailed breakdown of their micronutrients based on third-party lab testing.
In this article, I’ll share my favorite grass-fed bison organ supplement brands and product recommendations. My top picks in alphabetical order are shown in the comparison table below:

How to Choose a Bison Organ Supplement
When shopping for bison organ meat supplements, there are specific criteria you should take into account. The good news is that there are significantly fewer bison supplements on the market than beef organ supplements, making it easier to sift through them and choose a product that fits your needs and budget.
It also means there are fewer scammers selling crappy products filled with junk ingredients, as is often the case in the largely unregulated dietary supplements industry.
Here’s a quick summary of all the factors I encourage you to consider when purchasing a bison organ supplement:
- Regeneratively-raised. Bison are native to North America and have contributed to improving soil quality for over 100,000 years. When purchasing bison organ supplements, make sure you’re buying from brands that work with ranchers who have a vested interest in improving soil and animal welfare.
- Third-party testing. A lot can go wrong between harvesting fresh organs and turning them into gelatin capsules that are safe to consume. Ensure the product you purchase has been tested by a third-party lab for heavy metals and other potential toxins.
- Eco-friendliness. Most dietary supplements come in plastic bottles because they’re cheaper to manufacture and ship. I prefer glass bottles with metal lids over plastic because they’re better for the consumer and the environment. Compostable paper pouches are excellent alternatives to glass, but they require extra care when shipping to ensure the capsules don’t get damaged.
- Manufacturing facilities: Ensure the supplements you purchase were manufactured in a GMP and FDA-certified facility. Many brands claim these certifications, but use manufacturing partners that have only their warehouse operations certified, not the entire manufacturing facility. Using an FDA-certified manufacturing and encapsulation facility reduces the risk of purchasing a product that contains expired ingredients, which the manufacturing partner may have relabeled and sold at a lower price (often without the brand’s knowledge).
It’s also worth noting that many people who transition from beef organ supplements to bison organ supplements get too hung up on trying to avoid products made from animals that received supplemental grains during certain periods of their lives.
When it comes to beef, that’s smart, because there’s a significant difference — from both a nutritional and animal welfare standpoint – between grass-finished cattle and grain-finished cattle.
With bison, it’s a story different (as I explained in my article comparing bison with beef). The lab tests conducted by my own supplement company’s manufacturing partner confirmed that the organ meat of bison that had access to some grains during the last few weeks of their lives is still significantly denser in micronutrients than the organs of the best grass-finished beef on the market.
So while it’s true that grass-finished bison is better than grain-finished bison, it’s also true that grain-finished bison is better – from a micronutrient perspective – than grass-finished beef.
That’s important to understand, because there is very little grass-finished bison produced in the United States. If you were to limit yourself to purchasing only that, you would have a hard time finding a supplement, and would thus miss out on the incredible micronutrient density bison organs have to offer.
The Best Bison Organ Supplements
While there might be other brands on the market that deliver bison organ meat supplements of equal quality, my four products of choice are American Beast (from my family’s brand, MK Supplements), Bison Organ Meats (BioElectric), Human Potential (Human Nature) and Paleo-Plex (Pure Prairie).
American Beast From MK Supplements

As a former 100-meter sprinter turned homesteader, I founded MK Supplements with my wife to help as many people as possible incorporate organ meats into their regular diet.
American Beast is our first bison organs supplement. It contains the liver and heart of regeneratively-raised bison farmed in the United States (on ranches in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado). These two organs are rich in vitamins, minerals, peptides and cofactors, supporting strength, endurance and recovery.
Compared to beef, bison heart and liver deliver over 20 times the zinc and nearly 5 times the manganese – plus 168% more B12 and 192% more K2 (which can help speed up recovery).

One of the things that sets American Beast apart from other bison organ supplements on the market is the rigorous five-step testing protocol we use to ensure that what we claim on the label is actually inside the capsules (identity testing) and that our ingredients do not contain any harmful pathogens (such as bacteria, mold, pesticides or heavy metals).
You can download the test reports from the independent laboratory we work with directly from our help center.
Another advantage of American Beast is that we’ve packed three grams of freeze-dried powder into five capsules instead of six (a 20% reduction from our earlier beef organ formulations), making the product easier to leverage for people who take multiple supplements daily.
American Beast comes in recyclable glass bottles with metal lids and no plastic neckwrap. That significantly reduces your exposure to microplastics and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and it’s also better for the environment.
We also offer a 60-day return policy. If you’re not satisfied with the product, you can return it to us for a refund – even if the bottle has been opened. If you have specific questions, you can leave us a voicemail and I’ll call you back within two business days.
American Beast retails for $69 ($2.30 per serving), and you can save an extra 15% by signing up for a subscription.

Bison Organ Meats From BioElectric

Arguably the highest-quality yet most expensive bison organ supplement on the market comes from BioElectric. What I like about their Bison Organ Meats is that each animal is field-harvested instead of being dispatched in a facility – which means the animal is less stressed during its final minutes.
Another advantage of BioElectric’s Bison Organ Meats is the variety of organs it contains, which includes liver, heart, kidney, spleen, tongue, pancreas, suet, fat and cartilage. I’m a massive fan of nose-to-tail eating, and BioElectric embodies that principle very well.

The downside of field harvesting is that the process makes it more challenging to control for pathogens, as the harvested organs must be rinsed and flash-frozen in the field before being transported to a freeze-drying facility.
It’s concerning that BioElectric hasn’t published any information about their quality control procedures or third-party lab testing. And for what it’s worth, they didn’t respond to our inquiry when we reached out about this during our research for this article.
Another minor issue is the brand’s use of cellulose instead of gelatin capsules. BioElectric argues that conventional animal gelatin introduces a “bad spirit and toxins” into the supplement. I’m not sure what that means, and I fail to see how a lab-made capsule made out of a material humans can’t digest would be any better.
Overall, I still think BioElectric offers an excellent bison organ supplement. Unfortunately, at $88 a bottle, it’s easily the most expensive option on the market. Plus, the bottle I purchased in August of 2025 had an expiration date of January 2026; for reference, most organ meat supplements have a shelf life of 2-3 years.
That tells me BioElectric doesn’t sell through its inventory very quickly, which supports my suspicion that many consumers struggle with the high price tag.

Human Potential From Human Nature

Human Potential is an interesting product that contains a blend of five bison organs (including liver, heart, spleen, kidney and pancreas), in proportions that mimic the natural ratios of the organs in the animal.
What I like about Human Potential is that the company decided to use compostable pouches instead of plastic bottles to avoid microplastic contamination and to reduce shipping fees.

When I reached out to Human Nature to inquire about their quality control and third-party testing protocols, they declined to share any information. However, when I received their product in the mail, I noticed that the lot number printed on the pouch had the same prefix as ours. That made me realize that Human Nature uses the same company to encapsulate their ingredients as we do at MK Supplements.
This information gave me at least a partial understanding of the company’s testing practices. As a result, I suspect that Human Nature uses a four-step testing protocol for its supplements.
Similar to American Beast, Human Potential sources its organs from animals that have access to supplemental feed during the last few weeks of their lives.
Human Potential retails for $71 ($2.37 per serving, but you can save 15% if you sign up for a subscription).
I would like to point out that Human Nature promotes a 30% discount on subscriptions on their online store. However, that’s a bit of misleading marketing because it’s calculated based on a permanently discounted MSRP. In other words, the actual difference in price between a one-time purchase and a subscription is 15% and not 30%.
Paleo-Plex From Pure Prairie (Formerly Folsom Point)

Paleo-Plex was one of the first bison organ supplements I discovered, and I’ve seen them grow over the years.
Paleo-Plex is a clever combination of bison organs (including liver, heart, kidney, spleen and pancreas) in ratios that mimic the size of the organ in the animal.
What I like most about Pure Prairie is the company’s transparency. When I reached out to ask about their testing protocols, they were more than forthcoming, and I felt comfortable knowing that they follow the same five-step process that we do with MK Supplements.

It’s also worth noting that the animals they source are 100% grass-fed, and some are even field-harvested. Besides their bison organ supplements, Pure Prairie also offers bison tallow and bison liver dog treats.
The downside of Paleo-Plex is that it comes in a plastic bottle, which can expose you to microplastics and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
It’s also worth noting that the bottle I received had a manufacturing date of 04/22. While bison organ supplements don’t go bad quickly, you can expect some deterioration of micronutrients after a couple of years.
Paleo-Plex retails for $77 ($2.57 per serving), but you can receive a 10% discount by signing up for a subscription.
As of this writing, Paleo-Plex is not available on Amazon.
Summary and Final Thoughts
Bison organ supplements offer a unique way to reclaim ancestral nutrition while supporting soil health, animal welfare, and, in many cases, the revival of America’s Great Plains ecosystem.
Compared to beef, bison organs are richer in key micronutrients, lower in histamines, and deliver a more favorable fatty acid profile — all while offering a cleaner, whole-food alternative to synthetic multivitamins.
Whether you prioritize sustainability, rigorous testing protocols, eco-friendly packaging, or simply want the best nutritional bang for your buck, there’s a bison organ supplement on this list to match your values.
While my family and I prefer American Beast for apparent reasons (we manufacture it), you can’t go wrong with any of the brands mentioned in this article. After all, incorporating bison organs into your daily routine is one of the most effective steps you can take to enhance recovery, improve resilience, and achieve better overall health.
At the end of the day, the goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress. Start with a supplement that aligns with your budget and values, stay consistent, and let one of nature’s most potent multivitamins do its work.

Is the testosterone benefits the same with a Bison organ supplement as it is with eating the actual organ(s)?
Hey Nathan,
yes, freeze-dried bison organ supplements delivery about the same benefits as their fresh counterparts.
Cheers,
Michael
I have not used a bison organ supplement, very interested but have very sensitive stomach and not sure if I could tolerate dosage. Opinion?
Hey Deb,
I’d give it a try and start out with a single capsule daily. If you tolerate it well, increase the serving size every couple of days and consume them with food.
Cheers,
Michael
