SuperGreen TONIK is a premium supplement that can help you fill nutritional gaps in your diet. I’ve been supplementing with this green powder on and off ever since I published my comparison article of the best greens powders.
It’s been a few months since then, so I decided it was time for a dedicated review of SuperGreen TONIK.
My goal for this article is to answer the following key questions:
- What are the health benefits of SuperGreen TONIK?
- Who should/should you buy SuperGreen TONIK?
- Is the product worth the money?
- What can you expect from using this green powder?
I’ll also briefly touch on a question I’ve covered in more detail in a dedicated article: are greens powders a waste of money?
Why Use a Greens Powder?
Greens powders, such as SuperGreen TONIK, contain powdered plants (roots and leaves) and plant extracts that you can mix with water or other liquids to obtain essential micronutrients, including antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
The issue is that some people wrongly assume that green powders can be a substitute for a healthy lifestyle that should consist of:
- A consistent sleep cycle and sufficient, high-quality sleep.
- A diet low in carbs and high in healthy fats.
- Intermittent fasting.
- Daily exercise or physical activity.
My recommendation is to focus all of your energy on implementing Steps #1-4 before you start spending money on supplements. You can certainly use supplements (such as green powders) to get more nutrients into your body even if you have a crappy diet, but they won’t get you to an optimal level of health. Only lifestyle choices can do that.
As a result, I consider SuperGreen TONIK — and any other dietary supplement, for that matter — supplemental to everything I’m already doing right. It’s like the icing on the (hopefully paleo and keto-friendly) cake.
I aim to mimic the dietary lifestyle of our Paleolithic ancestors as best as I can, given my modern life and food sources. But let’s be realistic. I don’t have to hunt for my food, I don’t fight mammoths and eat their organ meat, and I don’t have to go without eating for days in a row — unless I choose to do so.
Instead, I follow a high-fat low-carb paleo diet, sleep eight hours a night, do CrossFit for an hour every day, and fast intermittently. If I feel like breaking my fast, I go to the fridge and grab some food. My lifestyle has little resemblance to how our ancestors lived.
So it’s reasonable to suspect that there are at least some dietary gaps that supplements can help fill.
That’s where green powders, such as SuperGreen TONIK, come into the picture. These products can help fill small gaps in my nutrition, even if I don’t know exactly where and what those gaps are.
In the unlikely event that I don’t have any gaps, supplementing with SuperGreen TONIK won’t hurt me.
Who Is SuperGreen TONIK For?
While anyone can benefit from consuming green powders, some groups will likely benefit more than others. I consider my eating habits to be ~90% optimal, based on everything I know about nutrition. As a result, I try a lot of supplements but I don’t take them religiously.
If You’re on a Journey
But what about those people who don’t have a consistent sleep cycle, who eat processed junk food all day, who don’t exercise, and who maybe even have a pre-existing metabolic condition? Should they be using SuperGreen TONIK?
Yes, but not without changing and improving their sleep, diet and exercise habits at the same time.
I realize that changing those habits doesn’t happen overnight. For many people, trying to go to bed and wake up more consistently, eating better and being more physically active is a process.
If you’re in that process, you’ve likely got more “dietary gaps” than someone who has already implemented all of the suggestions I mentioned above. As a result, you can definitely benefit from SuperGreen TONIK, or any of the best greens powders on the market.
If Your Lifestyle Gets in the Way
It’s easy to prescribe consistent sleep, good eating patterns and enough exercise if your partner is a homemaker, if you work from home and have a somewhat flexible schedule, and if you have sufficient resources to buy healthy food.
Unfortunately, we’re not all in those situations.
Some people are shift-workers, and a consistent sleep cycle just isn’t in the cards for them.
Some might be on the road all day without having access to fresh food made from healthy ingredients.
Others don’t have the resources to spend hundreds of dollars every month on pasture raised eggs and meats, and organic fruits and veggies.
Whatever the case or circumstances might be, a high-quality green powder, or even high-calorie meal replacement shakes, can help fill those unavoidable dietary gaps (and may end up saving you some money).
Just don’t become complacent and accept a supplement as a viable alternative for sleep, diet and exercise.
SuperGreen TONIK Health Benefits
The ultimate goal of SuperGreen TONIK is to provide extra antioxidants and micronutrients to help improve brain function, support the immune system and relieve stress.
But what can you expect from consuming this product?
According to other reviewers, drinking SuperGreen TONIK gave them more energy throughout the day, helped them sleep better at night, improved their mental clarity and more.
I’ve experienced all of those effects, but not because of a dietary supplement. Instead, I enjoy them because I have a consistent bedtime, I eat well and I exercise regularly.
Ever since I started making the right lifestyle choices, I have yet to find a supplement that I can’t live without.
I’m not suggesting that other reviewers are lying about their experiences, but I think you’re more likely to notice certain benefits of green powders if you’re far away from a healthy baseline.
Keep in mind that it’s normal to feel energetic throughout the day (without an afternoon slump) and to sleep well at night. If that’s not true for you, then your body is sending a strong signal that you’re making the wrong lifestyle choices.
But the closer you get to your baseline, the less noticeable of an impact a supplement might have.
The bottom line is that most of the ingredients in SuperGreen TONIK can have real health benefits, but they won’t get you to where you should be if they’re not accompanied by the proper lifestyle choices.
How I Conducted This Review
Until recently, my policy was to not read other reviews of products that I intended to review for this blog. That’s because I wanted to avoid being influenced by the opinions of other reviewers and deliver as honest and unbiased of an evaluation as possible. As a result, I would write my review first and then read other articles to see if I missed any important topics that readers might be interested in.
For my last two reviews, including this one, I decided to change my strategy with the goal of finding a different angle that hasn’t yet been covered.
After having read the three top-ranking SuperGreen TONIK reviews, I realized how sensational they were — and that they pretty much repeated everything Adam Wright wrote in his announcement of the product.
Adam, who I’ve gotten to know a bit via the emails we’ve exchanged over the past few months, wrote an excellent and fact-based article. But I felt like the existing reviews that followed didn’t add anything that he hadn’t already said.
So I decided to take a more pragmatic (and realistic) approach with this review and reign in some of the claims that other reviewers have made regarding the positive impact this green powder has had on their health and well-being.
SuperGreen TONIK Ingredients
What I appreciate about this particular green powder is the quality of its (mostly) organically and ethically sourced ingredients.
Looking at the label on the back, we can group the ingredients into three categories:
- Organic Greens Blend
- Nootropic Blend
- Immune Blend
So let’s talk about those three categories!
Organic Greens Blend
The primary purpose of green powder is to provide you with a full serving of vegetables in a convenient delivery form. In other words, you can drink your daily serving of veggies by just mixing the powder with water (or your beverage of choice).
Here’s a complete list of the superfoods in SuperGreen TONIK:
- Barley grass powder
- Chlorella powder (cracked cell)
- Horseradish tree (moringa) leaf powder
- Kale powder
- Spinach leaf powder
- Spirulina powder
The carefully selected combination of organic greens listed above delivers not only antioxidants but also the bulk of the vitamins and minerals in SuperGreen TONIK, including:
- Calcium
- Copper
- Iron
- Manganese
- Potassium
- Selenium
- Sodium
- Vitamin A (as Retinyl Acetate)
- Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)
- Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
- Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
- Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
- Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
- Vitamin B8 (Biotin)
- Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid)
- Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)
- Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
- Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)
- Vitamin E (as DL-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate)
- Vitamin K1 (as Phytonadione)
- Zinc
As you can see by looking at the label, this green powder has a dense micronutrient profile, delivering most of what you need on a daily basis. The only major mineral missing in this product is magnesium, although it’s worth noting that SuperGreen TONIK has only relatively low amounts of vitamin A, calcium, sodium and potassium.
So if you’re on a ketogenic diet, you might have to get your electrolytes from other sources.
Nootropic Blend
Nootropics are substances that are supposed to improve cognitive (brain) function, like memory, creativity, mental clarity and motivation.
The nootropics (supplement) market has exploded in recent years and it appears to be the next big thing after the “weight loss pill.”
I’m convinced that there are certain chemicals that can improve brain function. However, I don’t think you should worry about supplements before making sure you have your primary bases covered.
What I mean by that is:
- Sufficient high-quality sleep.
- A ketogenic diet (the brain thrives on ketone bodies).
- Regular exercise.
I can tell you that every time I’m in deep ketosis, my brain works on a different level.
While in ketosis, I can speak both English (my second language) and German (my slowly deteriorating mother tongue) much more fluently than when I’m not. I can also tell the difference when I’m writing.
I’ve tried nootropics in the past, but didn’t feel the same impact that ketosis has on my cognitive performance.
That said, if you’re already doing everything right and you want to squeeze the last bit of performance out of your brain, the following ingredients in SuperGreen TONIK’s nootropic blend might help:
- Ashwagandha root extract
- Bacopa leaf extract
- Ginkgo leaf powder
- L-theanine
- Rhodiola root powder
Here’s a quick overview of what they are and how they work.
Ashwagandha Root
Ashwagandha is a small shrub native to India and North Africa. Its root is used in functional medicine to control blood sugar and to help the body cope with stress.
Most studies conducted with ashwagandha have been done on animals, but the few studies done on humans show promising results as far as an improvement in cognitive function is concerned.
Bacopa Leaf
Bacopa is another herb popular in Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India. While there is some evidence that Bacopa might help to improve brain function, there haven’t been any clinical trials on humans.
Rhodiola Rosea Root
Rhodiola is a flowering plant that grows in the colder climates of Europe and Asia, and has been used in traditional medicine in Russia and Scandinavia.
There is some scientific evidence that supplementing with rhodiola root can improve exercise performance, fight fatigue, and even reduce the symptoms of depression.
L-Theanine
L-theanine is a non-essential amino acid that naturally occurs in green and black tea. However, the body doesn’t synthesize it at all. If taken as a supplement, some research suggests it may promote relaxation without drowsiness.
Ginkgo Leaf
Ginkgo biloba is an ancient tree that the Chinese have been growing for thousands of years to use in alternative medicine.
Gingko leaves provide concentrated levels of flavonoids and terpenoids. These antioxidants can neutralize free radicals, which are unstable atoms (because they lack an electron) that can destroy healthy cells in the body. Free radicals have been linked to aging and numerous diseases.
Ginkgo has also been shown to help reduce stress, improve brain function, and is said to have numerous other benefits. However, as is so often the case with natural remedies, the scientific evidence is weak and more research is needed.
Immune Blend
It’s no secret that a healthy gut and microbiome is the key to maintaining a strong immune system.
For that reason, SuperGreen TONIK includes three ingredients that might give you an extra boost, including dandelion leaf extract, garlic bulb and olive leaf extract.
As is the case with most natural remedies, there is some evidence as to their effectiveness but clinical trials performed on humans are largely missing.
Dandelion Leaf
What you might not know is that dandelion is a highly nutritious plant that’s loaded with vitamins and minerals. I remember that we used to eat its leaves when we were kids, although we obviously had no clue as to its benefits.
Regarding immune system support, dandelion extract has been shown to protect against viruses and bacteria — at least in test-tube studies. How that translates into the plant’s properties as preventative medicine remains to be seen.
Garlic
In studies using animals, garlic has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. It can also directly stimulate the immune system.
However, there haven’t been any clinical trials on humans to determine how effective garlic is in fighting infections.
Olive Extract
In a study from 2018, olive leaf extract has been shown to modify the immune response in healthy humans. Additionally, there is evidence that this natural remedy is also cardioprotective and has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Taste
For many people, the taste of a green powder is critically important — especially when it comes to long-term use. While taste is highly subjective, I can tell you that SuperGreen TONIK has a slightly sweet taste with hints of mint.
Personally, I like the taste. But I liked the taste of all the green powders I’ve ever tried. Since everybody has different tastes and preferences, I can’t promise that you’ll love how SuperGreen TONIK tastes, but I encourage you to give it a try. If you don’t like it, send it back for a full refund.
Update: SuperGreen TONIK is now also available in a delicious berry flavor. So if you’re not a fan of mint, you might enjoy the new flavor option!
How Much Is SuperGreen TONIK?
SuperGreen TONIK is a premium product with premium ingredients and the price tag reflects that.
One tub (which contains 30 servings) costs approximately $90. That means you’ll pay about $3 per serving. That’s not inexpensive, but neither is pastured meat and fresh organic veggies. In other words, eating healthy is expensive in most of the developed world.
On the bright side, if you like the product and want to use it long-term, you can get bundles of three or five tubes, which reduce the price per tub.
Additionally, you can use promo code KUMMER10 to get 10% off your entire order value!
Frequently Asked Questions
Probably not. The body has mechanisms to remove toxins from the bloodstream (through the liver, for example). Most environmental toxins (such as mercury) are fat-soluble, and if you ingest more of them than the body can remove (which is called bioaccumulation), those toxins get stored in your fat-tissue — including the brain.
When you burn fat, as you would on a ketogenic diet, those toxins get released back into the bloodstream. Assuming you’re not overloaded with more environmental toxins at that point, your liver should be able to filter them out.
I don’t know that any green powder can provide additional benefits for such cases.
Yes. The company has a very generous 365-day money-back guarantee. If you have ordered more than one tub of the product, make sure you open only one if there’s a chance that you might want to return the product.
You sure can! This green powder mixes easily into liquids, drinks or smoothies of your choice. I usually have it with water, but that’s just because I’m not big into smoothies.
I would say so for the following reasons.
First, juicing is messy and you’ll probably get sick of cleaning your juicer quicker than you think. We used to juice a few years ago, but we stopped after less than three weeks.
Also, juicing (and juicing fruits in particular) extracts the sugar without the fiber. The result is a massive spike in blood sugar, followed by a release of insulin. That’s a recipe for diabetes and one of the main reasons (beyond the cleaning) why we stopped juicing.
Green powders are much more convenient to consume and don’t have the downsides of juicing.
Stevia leaf extract is the sweetener used in this green powder. Some other products use sucralose or other artificial sweeteners that I highly recommend staying away from.
Black pepper helps with the absorption of micronutrients. That’s the reason why you can find black pepper or piperine (an alkaloid found in black pepper) in pre-workout supplements and why, I assume, SuperGreen TONIK contains it as well.
When SuperGreen TONIK was first released, it was not vegan because it contained l-tyrosine, which was derived from duck feathers. However, the company revised the formula to exclude that substance, and it’s completely vegan as of January 15, 2021.
Everything else about the product is identical to the original formula, including the taste.
The body can absorb the micronutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, in green powders very well because they stem from whole-food ingredients. As a result, those nutrients are much more bioavailable than the ones you can find in most synthetic vitamin supplements.
No, but this green powder contains prebiotics in the form of inulin (fiber) and other immune-system-boosting ingredients (see above).
To find out how this product compares to other greens supplements, including Athletic Greens, check out my greens powders comparison article.
Adaptogens are plants that can help the body resist physical, biological and chemical stressors. So think of them as the herbs and roots used in alternative medicine.
Unless you’re allergic to any of the ingredients in green powders, the worst that can happen is an upset stomach.
Remember, anytime you introduce a new food or supplement, your body might need some time to adjust to it. So even in the unlikely event that you get bloated or have soft stools, keep using the green powder for a couple of days to allow your body to adjust.
Yes, you can use discount code kummer10 to get 10% off your entire order!
While all the ingredients of the greens blend are organic, some of the other components that are part of the immune and nootropic blend are not.
SuperGreen TONIK Review: Final Verdict
If you’ve read other reviews of this product, you might have noticed that this article is different and less enthusiastic (or maybe more fact-based).
But don’t take my style of writing as an indication that I don’t like SuperGreen TONIK. On the contrary, I think it’s a fantastic product with excellent ingredients, and I recommend you give it a try.
I do my best to sleep well, exercise regularly and eat a diet based on nutritious, low-carb high-fat food. But my life isn’t perfect and I have gaps in my nutrition that products like SuperGreen TONIK can fill in a convenient and time-saving manner.
Just understand that this green powder is meant to supplement an already healthy lifestyle and to fill the gaps you can’t easily fix. If you’re a flight attendant and have a choice between the crappy food served aboard airplanes or a green powder and meal replacement drink, I’d choose liquid food any day of the week.
So give this green superfood powder a try. If you don’t like it, you can send it back with no questions asked.
